As I look back and reflect on the last eight weeks I realize just how much I've grown as a learner. Coming into this program I'd already been a technology leader on my campus for several years. What else was there for me to know? After 30 years in education what could I possibly learn? Get comfortable, the answer might take a while. I've learned that awareness of an issue does not translate into knowledge of that issue. I've gained insight as to not just how we teach, but why we teach the way we do; the history of the system is quite intriguing.
I've also learned that I am not too old for this. My brain is still malleable enough to embrace new routines like online classes and old skills like academic writing. Surprisingly, though, I adapted quite well to Dr. H.'s teaching style of COVA.+CSLE Being an 80's kid who spend 16 years in rows and columns learning by rote memorization of facts, it was quite surprising to find that I was not too fazed by the independent nature of the ADL coursework. Creating this e-portfolio was so much fun. I truly enjoy the design aspect. Deciding what to put where, making it look appealing, and most importantly the navigation. I wanted to keep it simple so as not to overwhelm my visitors, but I also wanted it to be a true reflection of me (see HOME), my professional life (Career HIghlights), and my progress through the ADL program (ADL Coursework). I look forward to adding and updating my e-portfolio over the next several months to reflect further learning.
